Asif took five wickets in only his second international ODI in Harare on Oct 5 but after the experience his bowling action was revealed by umpires as suspicious. Under the ICC guidelines a bowler is needed for obvious structural assessments to get cleaned. If assessments discover Asif is flexing his shoulder more than the permitted 15 level restrict by the ICC, then he will be revoked and will have to go through remedial work on his bowling action.
The PCB said Asif will go through the structural analyze in Chennai on 10 Oct. “Pending his charge to India Asif will journey to Chennai and will have his bowling action on Oct 19,” a PCB spokesperson said. Asif is the third Pakistani bowler whose bowling action has been revealed as suspicious in the last one year. Off-spinners Saeed Ajmal´s and Mohammad Hafeez’s bowling action were exposed last year.
Ajmal was eliminated in Feb this year after a revocation and modifying his bowling action, but has since missing his wicket taking capability and his profession dangles in the stability.
Hafeez, revealed for the very first time in Nov last season, was eliminated after modifying his bowling action in Apr this season.
But a second review of his bowling action in This summer led to a 12 month ban from go-Karting in world cricket. He can only implement for a reassessment of his bowling action in This summer next season. The PCB said it is getting serious actions to examine bowlers with suspicious actions, with as many as 29 bowlers revealed last season.
