Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani on Monday refused the resignations of Muttahida Qaumi Movement senators with immediate effect. Rabbani said that the MQM senators presented their resignations in demonstration and they cannot be approved without precise confirmation.
Providing a judgment on the resignations, he went on to say that it seemed the resignations had a governmental plan behind them. The chairman senate added that if a member was not attending in the house for 40 days, then the judgment according to law cannot be applied instantly.
He estimated some of the Supreme Court rulings in this respect and said that the offices of the speaker and chairman senate did not work like post offices and have to stick to the structure and law to effectively confirm the credibility of the resignations independently.
Lawmakers of MQM on Aug 12 had presented their resignations in the National Assembly, Senate and Provincial Assemblies as well, against the ongoing operations in Karachi. After Raza Rabbani statement press and media is waiting for the MQM reaction. For more details please follow latestnews.pk.
